Animal Behavior Lab
We studied vertebrates via critter cams at zoos around the country and our very own Echo the gecko. We studied invertebrates using mealworms. Most students will continue this lab during their next STEAM class time. Handling the creepy crawly mealworms seemed to be everyone's favorite part!

butterflies
Our kindergarteners and our firsties have been studying the butterfly life cycle. They made life cycle models on plates with pasta. They colored stick puppets. They sang songs and watched videos. It was a fun lesson!

engineering lesson
We read a nonfiction story about a real life engineer. Then, we read a fiction story about a girl who loves to do engineering projects. We learned that the only true failure can come if you quit. Our grades 3-5 students used an H-chart to compare and contrast the two texts. Our K-2 students created posters showing engineers at work using math and science to solve problems.
